- Fact 1: The original Star Trek series ran from 1966 to 1969. It was created by Gene Roddenberry, a former L.A.P.D. officer.
- Fact 2: Communicators are fictional devices used for voice communication in the fictional universe of Star Trek. In at least one instance, they also served as an emergency-signaling device/beacon. They allow direct contact between individuals or via a ship's communication system.
